Kitchen Range Hood Sizing Guide

Choosing the Right Size Range Hood for Your Kitchen
When selecting a range hood for your kitchen, it’s essential to consider both the height and width to ensure maximum efficiency in capturing grease and steam. Here’s a simple guide to help you choose the perfect size based on your ceiling height and cooktop dimensions.
Ceiling Height
* For 8-foot (240 cm) ceilings:
• Recommended Installation Height: 24–30 inches (61–76 cm) from the cooktop to the bottom of the hood.
• Suggested Hood Height: 30–36 inches (76–91 cm) range hood is ideal for 8-foot ceilings.
* For 9-foot (274 cm) ceilings:
• Recommended Installation Height: 27–33 inches (69–84 cm) from the cooktop to the bottom of the hood.
• Suggested Hood Height: 36–42 inches (91–107 cm) range hood is ideal for 9-foot ceilings.
* For 10-foot (305 cm) ceilings:
• Recommended Installation Height: 30–36 inches (76–91 cm) from the cooktop to the bottom of the hood.
• Suggested Hood Height: 42–48 inches (107–122 cm) range hood or a model with an adjustable installation option is ideal for higher ceilings.
Hood Width
Why Proper Sizing Matters
Choosing the right hood width ensures efficient ventilation, keeps your kitchen air clean, and prevents excess grease buildup. For best performance, choose a hood that matches or slightly exceeds the width of your cooktop.
⸻
* For a 30-inch (76 cm) cooktop:
→ Recommended Hood Width: 30 inches (76 cm)
* For a 36-inch (91 cm) cooktop:
→ Recommended Hood Width: 36 inches (91 cm)
* For a 48-inch (122 cm) cooktop:
→ Recommended Hood Width: 48 inches (122 cm)

💡 Tip: We recommend starting with the same width as your cooktop and increasing it if your available wall space allows.
A slightly wider hood can improve ventilation efficiency and provide better grease and smoke capture, especially for high-heat cooking or open kitchen layouts
